chemicals. Invensys sells high performance
pressure and differential pressure
transmitters, which are control devices
to monitor pipeline pressures in process
industries. Invensys' lean manufacturing
techniques have helped it create a
competitive advantage in this market,
and the company wanted to extend the
success of its lean practice to the
distribution channel.
The
Business Case
Vendor support for ongoing development
and third-party integrations is a
vital part of the decision-making
process when a company is looking
for an integration platform. Invensys
Foxboro uses SAP R/3 for order fulfillment.
Foxboro wanted to use the efficiencies
of iBaan E-Sales and E- Configuration
products and build a portal that will
enable customers to configure and
order pressure transmitters online.
In addition of this complex Front
end to Backend integration, Foxboro
also wanted the system to perform
online validation of the product configuration
integrity, online tax calculation
and order tracking against the back
office application. Using this framework

(inter)face to the customer across
its divisions.
